Custom Pet Services, LLC, is operated by Shawn Smith, BS, and offers effective training based on scientific principles.
Shawn earned her psychology degree with a minor in biology at UW-Whitewater, where she focused her studies on behavioral research. Shawn's research has been published in: Applied Animal Behaviour Science, Journal of Aggression, Maltreatment & Trauma, International Journal of Law and Psychiatry, and Criminal Justice and Behavior.
Shawn is a certified professional dog trainer (CPDT-KA) and a professional member of the Association of Animal Behavior Professionals (PABC) and the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT). She is a Truly Dog-Friendly trainer who has completed Pet First Aid instruction through the American Red Cross.
As a rescue volunteer for over 10 years, Shawn has lived with and trained foster dogs with a variety of temperaments and behavioral issues giving her a special appreciation for the need to find practical and efficient solutions to owner/pet conflicts.
